SageKanupernytsia is a forest mavka who understands and watches over plants with healing properties. This forest maiden lives among thickets and in forest clearings.
Kanupernytsia is also the folk name for sage. This plant is used in folk medicine for its anti-inflammatory and antiseptic effects. It's said you can recognize Kanupernytsia by the scent of sage that clings to her.
KanupernytsiaThe beautiful Kanupernytsia carries many medicinal herbs with her as she wanders the forest, looking for someone to help. A healthy traveler holds no interest for her, but if the mavka senses illness in someone, she will lure and follow him until she either heals him to death or helps him overcome the illness. To make sure the mavka heals rather than harms, it's said you should sing her songs or tell her fairy tales and interesting stories.
