- Myths and Legends of the Peoples of the World

Myths and legends are among the oldest stories known to humanity. They originated when people still lived in primitive tribes — long before the appearance of formal writing. Myths have no single authors; they haven’t been preserved in their original form. Instead, they journeyed to us across centuries and millennia, passed down by word of mouth, changing and evolving to meet the social needs of different eras. And they kept traveling… traveling… traveling. Even when humanity entered more developed times, myths continued to be rewritten. And the most fascinating thing is this: nearly everyone can instantly recognize a myth, distinguishing it from other forms of literature or folklore.
A myth is the result of collective creativity. It reflects the human desire to explain the world and nature through stories, to imbue ordinary events with divine purpose and soul. Myths often feel like fantasy — unreal, exaggerated. And yet, they remain endlessly compelling. That’s their most incredible and defining trait: to be **immortal**. To travel through time. To spark the imagination of artists, writers, and dreamers throughout history. They will continue to inspire and surprise — an endless source of inspiration that will never run dry, as long as there is someone left to drink from it.
Each culture has its own set of myths, and all of them deserve honor. Whether great or small, well-known or obscure, epic or simple — that’s not what matters. What matters is how wonderfully intertwined they are. How lifeless elements and natural processes come alive; how immortal gods interact with ordinary humans; how mythical creatures, monsters, demons, and spirits emerge — weaving themselves into stories across cultures and continents.
All these elements merge into epics that lived with people and evolved alongside them.
They reflected historical events, traveled from tribe to tribe, from nation to nation.
They witnessed the rise and fall of entire civilizations and dynasties.
Yet through it all — they lived.
And they will continue to live — forever.
