Bifrost

Bifrost, or Bifröst, is a burning rainbow bridge built by the Aesir, connecting Midgard, the world of mortals, with Asgard, the world of the gods. The Aesir cross this bridge every day on their way to their council beneath the shade of the ash tree Yggdrasil. The bridge is guarded by the god Heimdall.

To the people of Midgard, the bridge appears as a rainbow, in which the color red is the flame that protects the bridge from intruders and giants.

Bifrost will be destroyed at Ragnarök.
