HeraEvery spring, Hera renewed her virginity and youth by bathing in the sacred spring of Kanathos near Argos. This is tied to the first of the three aspects and stages of a woman's life that she symbolized. In spring she was Hera the Maiden (young and innocent); in summer and autumn, Hera the Perfect One (wife and mother); and in winter, Hera the Widow (old and destructive).
