Guinevere

Guinevere is the queen and wife of the legendary King Arthur, and the beloved of the knight Lancelot.

Guinevere was twice condemned to be burned at the stake. The first time, she had hosted a banquet at which one of the knights was poisoned. The queen was accused, and a sentence was nearly passed against her. Lancelot defended her innocence by winning a duel on her behalf. The second time, she was found guilty of breaking her marriage vows. Arthur's nephew Mordred and twelve knights burst into her chambers while Lancelot was with the queen. Enraged at being interrupted, Lancelot killed nearly everyone present in the room. He and Guinevere then fled the castle together, so that she would not be condemned to execution again.
