- Norse Heroes and Legendary Characters

Among the many heroes and figures in Norse mythology, it's impossible to overlook some of the most radiant and enchanting ones — the Valkyries. These beautiful and fierce women were personally chosen by Odin. Gifted with magical healing powers, they were believed to escort fallen warriors from the battlefield to Valhalla.
We should also remember other famous Norse heroes who have inspired countless films and stories. One such figure is Siegfried, who slew a dragon with his own hands and, after bathing in its blood, became immortal. Less widely known but equally legendary is Beowulf, considered one of the twelve mighty berserkers.
In Norse myths, main heroes are often kings or powerful warriors, distinguished either by supernatural strength or noble status. Sometimes their bloodlines trace back to the gods themselves, which allowed them to found new settlements or cities. These tales subtly hint at the divine origin of noble lineages, reinforcing their role as protectors and making them seem closer and more relatable to the common folk.
